Guther wins Second Distinguised Award
The College of Social and Behavioral Sciences is delighted
to announce the selection of three Joan N. Huber Faculty Fellows in the
sixth
year of the program:
 |
Brenda L. Dervin, School of Journalism and Communication
|
 |
Richard Gunther, Department of Political Science
|
 |
Catherine M. Stoney, Department of Psychology
|
The purpose of this program is to acknowledge and reward the
strongest scholars on the SBS faculty. It is named in honor of Joan Huber,
who in her own scholarly career
and as Dean of SBS [1984-1992], set the highest standards for faculty in SBS,
standards we aspire to continue.
The colleagues selected as Joan N. Huber Faculty Fellows will receive an
annual cash award of $5,000 a year for three years to further their research
programs.
In January it was announced that Dick Gunther had won the University's Faculty Award for
Distinguished University Service. It was announced to him in a surprise
visit by the President and Provost to a committee meeting he was attending
on Tuesday, January 20, 2004.
As many of you know, Dick has made very valuable contributions to the
University in a series of important service roles, including his
Chairmanship of the University Fiscal Committee for the last two years and
his leadership of the campaign to protect the University budget and mission
against legislative action last Spring. He is an eminently worthy
recipient of a distinguished service award.
